eve ray designs new collection has arrived. 'Schiaparelli and the Sea'. Inspired by the work of surrealist Italian designer, Elsa Schiaparelli and designer Maeve Barry's love of the ocean. The third piece in the collection are the 'hall of mirrors' statement drop mirror perspex drop earrings in two colour combinations. Designed and made in the eve ray studio in Dublin and taking inspiration from Elsa Schiaparelli's 'Hall of Mirrors' jacket, created for her Zodiac Collection Autumn/Winter, 1938/39. Lightweight earrings with a nickle free clasp back for pierced ears - sourced in Paris - with gold/silver and silver/gold mirror perspex options.
A recent trip to the Elsa Schiaparelli exhibition in Paris showcased her surrealist accessories - including body parts, everyday objects, using mix metal of gold and silver - from the start of her career to the current designs by Daniel Roseberry. Combining this witty and dramatic use of objects as jewellery, and a love of the sea - in particular growing up next to Banna Strand in County Kerry - the 'Schiaparelli and the Sea' collection was created.
